Maharashtra: Constable with Union minister tests positive for Covid-19 | Navi Mumbai News


NAVI MUMBAI: Two persons tested positive for Covid-19 under PCMC on Tuesday. While one is a 59-year-old person from Kamothe, the other is a Mumbai Police constable attached to the security detail of a Union minister residing in Kharghar. The positive cases under PCMC areas are now 39.
A civic doctor said the Kamothe person had a prostrate check-up at Apollo Hospital, Belapur. Later, he tested positive at a private laboratory and was shifted to the sub-district hospital, Panvel, on Tuesday.

Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been getting samples tested at Reliance Life Sciences to avoid delays at JJ hospital. Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh said results at private laboratories take around 24 hours. “I did not want to delay treatment of those who test positive. Therefore, out of 450 samples tested, 350 have been done by the private laboratory,” he said. NMMC only sends samples to JJ hospital, and test reports of 229 were pending on Tuesday. While NMMC sends 30-50 samples a day, PCMC sends around 25.
Meanwhile, Raigad district administration has started two community kitchens in Ulwe and Pali Devad, Sukapur.
