A Navi Mumbai-based brain dead woman gave a new lease of life to four people.

On September 26, the woman was brought to the hospital at Belapur in a critical condition. Despite getting treatment, she did not recover. She was later declared brain dead.

Following that, the doctors counselled and convinced the family members of the deceased, who was diagnosed with intracranial haemorrhage, to donate her organs.

The doctors harvested the liver, kidneys and lung from the deceased donor.

According to the hospital, the 62-year-old’s liver was transplanted to a 39-year-old man from Kolhapur, and kidneys were transplanted to two patients from Navi Mumbai.

The lungs were flown in a flight to Chennai after a recipient was found through the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre.
