NAVI MUMBAI: The Khandeshwar police registered an FIR against a father-son duo, the owners of a bakery in New Panvel, for arguing with a Panvel civic sanitary inspector when they were told to pay a penalty of Rs 500 for not wearing a mask.
The son argued with the sanitary inspector, his father got angry and allegedly poured kerosene on himself and threatened to end his life.
Sanitary inspector Daulat Shinde said that the incident occurred at Aman Bakery Point in Sector 6, New Panvel on November 4. Sanitary inspector Ajinkya Halade and his supervisor Sandeep Kamble were rounding up people not wearing a mask in public places and shops. They found the bakery owner, Asif Siddiqui (43), and his son Aman (19) without face masks on. They were handed a Rs 500 penalty receipt, which they refused to accept.
