NAVI MUMBAI: Gearing up to boost tourism in Raigad district, the Phansad wildlife sanctuary in Murud will soon be thrown open. Also, officials did preliminary inspection visits to Janjira fort and Rajpuri port and other places of tourist interest.
District information officer Manoj Sanap said that guardian minister for Raigad, Aditi Tatkare, along with officials from MTDC and the forest department visited Phansad sanctuary on Sunday. “The minister instructed that steps be taken to increase tourism in the sanctuary. So, officials must work out plans to attract tourists,” said Sanap.
The tourist route Alibaug to Murud has attractions like Rajpuri port, Janjira fort, beaches, Khora jetty, Nawab palace besides others.
MTDC and forest officials discussed self-help groups and training of locals as guides besides other measures.
